Stephanie
Bench Jeweler & Owner
Kauai Handmade was founded in 2018 on the beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii, by owner and bench jeweler Stephanie Deng. What began as a passion for handcrafted jewelry grew into a thriving small business, and in 2019, Kauai Handmade opened its first brick-and-mortar jewelry boutique at Coconut Marketplace in Kapaa. Stephanie specializes in handcrafted jewelry featuring Tahitian pearls, South Sea pearls, freshwater pearls, Kahelelani shells, momi shells, sunrise shells, gemstones, and quality precious metals. Every piece is thoughtfully designed and meticulously handcrafted. Custom jewelry is primarily created in solid gold, with turnaround times varying based on the complexity of the design and current production schedule. After more than six and a half years of building and running the shop independently, Stephanie made the decision to close the Kauai storefront on July 31, 2026, and return to Seattle to be closer to family. While the island chapter has come to a close, Kauai Handmade continues its journey online, carrying forward the aloha spirit and craftsmanship that inspired it from the beginning. Now based in Seattle, Kauai Handmade offers pop-up jewelry workshops, private one-on-one jewelry-making training, mobile permanent jewelry services, and bespoke jewelry design. Whether you're interested in learning traditional bench jewelry techniques, celebrating a special occasion with permanent jewelry, or creating a one-of-a-kind heirloom piece, every experience is rooted in exceptional craftsmanship, creativity, and personal connection. While our home base has changed, the heart of Kauai Handmade remains the same: creating meaningful jewelry, fostering creativity, and sharing the art of jewelry making wherever the journey leads.
